TETROFOLD

What’s the draw?

TETROFOLD is a timed tile-merging puzzle from solo developer pausory. Each placement uses one square of a 5-by-5 board. Arrange four basic tiles into an I, O, T, L or S tetromino and they compress into one shaped piece, freeing space for another decision.

The next step is matching four compressed pieces of the same shape to earn that shape's flag. Collecting all five flags advances the level. The clock keeps placements moving; letting it expire can put a tile somewhere you did not choose. Some arrangements offer more than one possible merge, and the game asks which shape you want to keep.

The developer published the game on itch.io in September 2026 and links directly to the browser build at tetrofold.pausory.com. No signup was needed for our run. If you enjoy compact merging puzzles, the extra layer is planning what your compressed pieces will become later, while keeping enough empty squares to get there.

Before you jump in

Controls

Click an empty square to place the current tile before time runs out. When several merges are possible, choose a shape and confirm it.

Devices

Desktop Chrome: tile placement, shape selection, game over and Play Again checked. Physical-phone controls have not been tested.

Our check

We read the four-page guide and played through a run to game over. We made compressed pieces, chose between competing merge shapes and finished that run at 77 points. Play Again reset the score and opened a fresh board.

We did not earn all five flags or reach level two. The board became crowded before we got that far, so the later-level description comes from the rules. Mouse input and the merge-choice overlay worked in desktop Chrome. Touch play has not been tested.
