What’s the draw?
Lejup is a free browser skiing and snowboarding game from Studio Zalktis. Pick a mountain, choose a lift or named run on its trail map, and head downhill. You can free-ride, try tricks or race through gates against the clock. The appeal is getting to explore recognizable ski terrain, including Mount Hood, Whistler and Zermatt, with room to wander away from a race route.
Creator Zintars Beldavs started with the Oregon mountains he skis. His development description traces the project from Timberline, Meadows and Skibowl to a much wider selection, expanded partly through player requests. The ground uses elevation datasets, while mapped runs and lifts come from OpenStreetMap. The developer explains the sources and the limits of the recreation in the game, so treat this as a ski game rather than a navigation tool for a real mountain.
The live build lets you choose skis or a snowboard and shows winter and July options for Mount Hood. Its trail map separates easier runs, harder terrain, parks and lifts. That makes the next decision straightforward: another familiar trail, a short timed course or a different starting point higher up. The developer also describes lift riding, weather changes, hiking and replaying imported GPX tracks. We tested the downhill and map loop; those additional systems still need their own checks.
Before you jump in
- Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD steer, tuck and brake. Hold Space and release to jump. M opens the trail map, R resets and Esc pauses. The in-game Controls panel covers tricks, lifts and hiking.
- Devices
- Played with a keyboard in desktop Chrome. The developer advertises gamepads and landscape phones/tablets; those inputs and devices have not been tested by Attract Mode.
Our check
· Desktop Chrome
We dropped in at Palmer on Mount Hood in desktop Chrome without creating an account. The skier accelerated downhill, jumping awarded style points, and the pause screen recorded 526 feet of vertical and a top speed of 56 mph. We returned to the title and used the trail map to start Blossom.
The game registered Blossom as one of 57 Timberline runs skied. We passed the first two gates of its timed course but did not finish the race. This was a short keyboard check of Mount Hood, not a review of every resort. Phone controls, gamepads, GPX imports and the lift-riding system remain untested.
